This post is more of a waiting for Obama talking about healthcare videos to load break than a study break. But I spent the weekend studying, so I'll still call it a study break. So, since I've just been studying, I have no exciting updates. Except for what the pictures show: snow in Beijing, festive vested workers, and my recently (today) purchased calligraphy supplies. I've resigned myself to at least a couple more weeks of hardcore studying before I will allow myself to go on a considerable amount of considerably lengthy adventures (one of which will take me to a cheap art supply place somewhere far away). I'm actually worried about failing my classes. When I fail a test or quiz I know that I actually failed it. No grading on a curve here. I'm feeling right now like the level I'm in is too high for me but I think I can adjust. Needing to restudy old characters because everything is in simplified (not traditional) script. Also I've forgotten a lot.
Glad to have a job. Last day at work consisted of being handed a wad of cash, having a nice talk for a while, and then being handed another wad of cash. Then I took the bus home across a good portion of Beijing. Surreally large. Everything is still quite surreal.
They offer weekly Taiji, calligraphy, and music classes. I know everyone wants me to take Taiji but I work on the days that it is held. But I have joined calligraphy and will have the first real lesson this Thursday. When I went out to buy supplies today, I got to experience poor air quality. It's certainly a murky sky day. My throat burns a little.
